Frequently asked questions

Children can start their music lessons at any age, as our instructors will use musical games with very young ones who are not mature enough to understand the concept of learning. If your child already shows an interest in music, as young as three years old, he or she is more than welcome to join our music awakening courses. We believe that being exposed to music as early as possible is a wonderful opportunity that should not be missed.

We certainly offer introductory lessons to children who are unsure of being interested in playing or uncertain of the instrument they wish to study.

There is no need to have any special talent to join Kids Rock. We believe that all children are able to learn how to play music and our role is to unleash the music abilities present in each. Of course, some children might be more gifted than others, but in music playing, talent only plays a small part versus benefiting from the advice of an expert tutor and assiduous personal practice.

Of course! We welcome both children who play for their enjoyment and those who wish to embrace a music career. By knowing your child’s intention, his or her instructor will, however, adapt her teaching style and expectations. In both cases, we will always ensure the most suitable and excellent music instruction.

Some parents worry not to be able to help their children due to not having a musical background. Be reinsured, it is fine, as his or her instructor will detail the homework to be completed in between the lessons. If you feel that you would like to support your child further, why don’t you join S&C, that is our sister music academy for adults to learn along with your little one?

It would be fantastic if you could attend your child’s music lessons as it would be an excellent way to understand his or her instructor’s expectations better and ensure that your child can practise in the right manner in between his or her music lessons. We would, however, advise against it, if you feel that your child would focus better when he or she is alone with the instructor.

You would need to purchase an instrument for your child to practise in between his or her lessons. Also, it will inspire your child tremendously and make him or her incredibly proud. If you are unsure of the most suitable instrument to acquire, we will be delighted to advise you and offer our recommendation. Having a good instrument to practise on from day one is essential for your child’s interest and enjoyment.

Yes, you will need to buy the music scores as recommended by your child’s instructor, for him or her to practise in between the lessons.

Your child surely needs to practice in between his or her lessons. There are two factors necessary to make good progress regularly: Attending excellent music lessons and practising daily. During his or her lessons, your child will benefit from the guidance of an expert instructor. Gaining precious knowledge will then allow him or her to practise effectively in between his or her lessons.

It all depends on your child’s current musical level and the speed at which he or she wants to achieve the desired goals. As a guideline, we can suggest your child start with 15 minutes daily, increasing to an hour or two when he or she gets older and more proficient. Whatever the time your child can dedicate to personal practice, we would anyway strongly recommend a daily practice for regular and good progress.

Absolutely. The instructor will give weekly a fair amount of homework accordingly to his or her age and musical level. The homework will be written down in a notebook to ensure that parents are aware of the required exercises and music pieces to be practised. The instructor will also fully detail how to practise effectively for your child to make the most of his or her personal practice sessions.

We strongly suggest all children sit the grade examinations as it brings a lot of structure into a music course, inspire children to practise with a goal in mind and offers him or her the opportunity to know his or her musical level. Getting a certificate for their achievement will also certainly make them proud and encourage them to work well to get to the next level. There is, however, no obligation.

We do not offer any home tuition. All our music courses take place at Unit 174, Gate Avenue Mall, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
